Eleven Saudi Jihadists Return to Work

It’s nice to know that some lines of work are immune from the current economic troubles. Saudi Arabia announced today that eleven former detainees of Guantanamo have left the unemployment lines and returned to their former jobs as terrorists. The detainees were part of a Saudi operated rehabilitation program for jihadists. Wait a minute…I thought that’s what Gitmo was for? Anyway, it seems that the jihadists decided rehabilitation just wasn’t for them and disappeared. According to the New York Times, Saudi officials said the men are believed to have fled the country and joined terrorist groups abroad. This brings the total to 14 former detainees who have been transferred from Guantanamo to undergo “rehabilitation” in Saudi Arabia, then disappeared. Now, doesn’t that give you a nice warm fuzzy feeling? There’s nothing to worry about though. I’m sure they’re up to no harm…probably just raising camels or something.

This should make everyone question President Obama’s announcement to close Guantanamo within a year. I wonder how Mr. Obama will feel if after he closes Gitmo just one of these guys ends up killing Americans? Is it really worth taking that chance just so you can make some ethical signal to the world? I don’t think so. These guys were captured on a battlefield. They’re not some crackhead that was picked up off the street corner. They want to kill Americans, plain and simple. They want to die and become martyrs…and now we have eleven more martyrs-to-be back on the job.
