Joe Biden Needs a Math Tutor

In yet another Joe Biden looks like an idiot moment, the Veep went on CBS Wednesday morning and commented on Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s response to President Obama’s speech the other night. Jindal was picked to give the Republican response and contrast the differences between the two parties on how to fix the economy. Mr. Biden made a claim to America that shows how truly informed he actually is on the subject:

“But what I don’t understand from Governor Jindal is what would he do? In Louisiana, there’s 400 people a day losing their jobs. What’s he doing?”

The problem with Mr. Biden’s little rant is that it’s just a big steaming pile of poo. Four hundred people a day would be a monthly job loss of 12,000. In fact, it looks like Louisiana is one of the bright spots in the nation when it comes to job losses. In December 2008 (the most current data available), Louisiana actually ADDED jobs and according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission was the only one of the fifty states to do so. This is taken straight from Louisiana’s employment website:

“Seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment for Louisiana was estimated at 1,949,000 in December 2008. This represents an increase of 3,700 jobs over the month and a net gain of 8,200 jobs since December 2007. Over the year, the largest employment increase was in construction, which gained 5,200 positions. This was followed by educational and health services, which added 4,500 jobs.”

Soooo, it looks like Mr. Biden has a little trouble with math. Maybe he should contact Sylvan and set up some tutoring lessons or something. Anyway, it makes me feel good to know this is the guy in charge of overseeing how all those stimulus dollars are being spent. We’re in good hands.
