Some Gave All

On this Memorial Day weekend, it’s a fitting time to think about those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that all of us may enjoy the freedoms we hold dear today. It also makes me think of all the nutjobs who burn our nation’s flag and hate anything and everything our armed services stand for. A perfect example of this is the pseudo-journalism of “news” organizations such as the New York Times who are pushing for the release of pictures from Guantanamo Bay. They know full well it would cause an increase in deaths of our brave men and women fighting the war on terror. They know this because that is exactly what happened after the release of the Abu Ghraib pictures. Despite the fact that more of our soldiers would die, they don’t care. The hypocrisy of it is that their own freedom of the press, like all of our freedoms, was bought and paid for by American blood on battlefields across the globe.

Take time this weekend to think about the freedoms you have and why you have them, and remember, our freedom wasn’t free…some gave all.
