Ahh…don’t you just love government efficiency. This is the chart of regulations in the Kennedy-Dodd Health Reform Bill via RedState. How well will the government do with your health care? A picture is worth a thousand words.

Under a current health care proposal by Senators Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) and Christopher Dodd (D-CT), Americans who choose not to buy health care coverage would be required to pay a fine of $1,000. The fine would be for individuals while families who choose not to be covered would be fined even more. These fines are being labeled as “shared responsibility payments” and would raise an estimated $36 billion over 10 years. Don’t be fooled, those “shared responsibility payments” are nothing more than taxes.

The Kennedy-Dodd plan would include a government-run health care option that would compete with private insurance companies and would also fine employers with more than 25 employees $750 per worker for not providing health insurance to their employees. First, they said Americans have a “right” to proper health care coverage. However, apparently we don’t have the right to refuse it. Happy Independence Day everyone!

The largest tax increase in American history, also known as Cap and Trade, narrowly passed the House by a vote of 219-212. There were 44 Democrats who voted against the bill but 8 Republicans who voted for it. Michelle Malkin has a list of the 8 Republican turncoats who sold us out. Make a note of their names so you can vote for the other guy/gal in the next primary. This boondoggle wouldn’t have passed had it not been for them.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has got the Cap and Trade bill on a fast track, bringing a vote on the issue as early as today. If it passes, the bill would then head to the Senate for a vote there. If you think this legislation is simply something to help the environment, think again. It’s nothing more than an out-of-control government grabbing revenue by imposing an indirect tax on its citizens. Some estimates show that this will cost the average American family around $1,800 a year in increased energy costs. However, the Democrats don’t seem to care. Republicans have offered three amendments to the bill: one that would suspend the program if gas prices hit $5 per gallon, one that would suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009, and one that would suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Guess what? Democrats rejected all three. The bottom line is they could care less if Americans pay five bucks for a gallon of gas or their electricity bill goes up. It’s obvious all they care about is picking our pockets so they can spend our money however they wish. If this thing goes through, it will be the largest tax in American history. Isn’t change wonderful?

On Wednesday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi met with Pope Benedict XVI for a fifteen minute meeting at the Vatican. Pelosi is a Catholic who is pro-choice and supports Roe v. Wade. Obviously, the Pope disagrees with her and based on the differing statements the two sides put out about the meeting, you would think they weren’t even in the same meeting. Read More→
