10. Pelosi Set to Ram Health Care Through

Last week I posted about Harry Reid refusing to give Senators and the public a full week to review the health care bill before voting on it. Now, Madame Speaker has said the same thing. Okay America, it’s time to bend over.

9. Another Duke Rape Case

You probably remember all the hubub in the press a few years ago when three white members of the Duke lacrosse team was accused of rape by a black student who was also a stripper. The press was on it like flies on honey. However, there is a new Duke rape case you won’t hear about in the media. This time, a prominent gay researcher is accused of raping his five year old son as well as offering him up on the internet for others to abuse. The media doesn’t seem to care about this one though. Why? Because it doesn’t fit their agenda of liberal lunacy. Whites raping blacks…AN OUTRAGE! Gays raping children…well now, we want to be tolerant of gay people so we wouldn’t want to do anything to defame them. I mean, it’s not like they’re Sarah Palin. Another case of media bias.

8. EPA Coverup

A report circulated within the EPA was not released publicly after its findings conflicted with claims that global warming is caused by carbon emissions. Critics  – including eight congressmen — say the document was suppressed.

7. State Sovereignty is Dead

A federal judge in California has issued an injunction to stop a proposed $2 hourly wage reduction of the state’s home-care workers, reductions made by the state as part of efforts cut a budget shortfall of $24 billion. What happens when a business runs out of money? Typically it lays people off or reduces employee wages. But hey, this is government right? Lunacy reigns.

6. U.S. Leaves Iraqi Cities

Iraqi forces assumed formal control of Baghdad and other cities Tuesday after American troops handed over security in urban areas in a defining step toward ending the U.S. combat role in the country. Since they’ve inherited everything else, I wonder if the Obama administration will claim to have inherited the success in Iraq from Bush? Read More→

Weekend Top 10

Posted by: Shawn Swisher | Comments (1)

Welcome to the new segment called Weekend Top 10, a collection of 10 hand-picked bits of news and information from the past week. Some of these may be top news stories while others may be things you haven’t heard about. I hope you enjoy it. Don’t forget to check back each weekend to get caught up on the things you might have missed. Also, check out the other new weekly segment titled Thursday’s Thoughts.

10. Trillion Dollar Health Care

The Congressional Budget Office released a report saying Obama’s health care plan will cost $1 trillion while his stated $2 trillion in savings will be difficult to achieve. It says the plan will provide insurance to 39 million Americans who are currently uninsured, but also estimates that 23 million Americans will be forced to give up the insurance they currently have, leaving a net gain of only 16 million people. Current costs put the total at around $62,500 per insured person, but this will likely increase as all predicted government costs do. Democrats are saying a tax on sugary foods may be implemented to help pay for the plan. Government imposed diets, anyone?

9. Ensign Admits Affair

Senator John Ensign (R-NV) admits to having an affair. Some sources hint there may have been an extortion attempt on the senator.

8. No Bailout for California

Shocking! The White House says California will have to deal with its financial woes on its own. Could this be a glimmer of actually being responsible with taxpayer money?

7. To Meddle or Not to Meddle?

Obama says we have no business meddling in the aftermath of the elections in Iran, yet he has no problems meddling in Israel by dictating that the U.S. wants Israel to agree to a Palestinian state. Can you spell h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e?

6. Obama Fires IG

President Obama fired his Inspector General but failed to give Congress the 30 day notice required by law. Read More→

On Wednesday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi met with Pope Benedict XVI for a fifteen minute meeting at the Vatican. Pelosi is a Catholic who is pro-choice and supports Roe v. Wade. Obviously, the Pope disagrees with her and based on the differing statements the two sides put out about the meeting, you would think they weren’t even in the same meeting. Read More→
